Integrated Mining Cadastre for Mongolia
Background
There are many stakeholders involved in the extractive sector (mining) in Mongolia. The key agencies that actively share geo-spatial and licensing data include MRPAM and MoET. In addition land use, ownership and legal cadastral data is provided by ALAGaC. From the public sector side additional stakeholders include local government from the aimags and soums. Other stakeholders include NGOs (civil society) and the private sector such as the mining companies and their suppliers.
Objectives of the project
- Consolidate multi-format and multi-source geospatial and textural data into a single enterprise open source database that can be accessed via the internet (cloud based).
- The single open source enterprise database is PostreSQL (POSTGIS).
- POSTGIS can provide a single source platform for multi-stakeholder data consolidation.
- It can be operated and maintained securely by the participants (contributing stakeholders) and shared both internally with the team and externally with other third party stakeholders.
